MEET THE GURUS:

Jesse Sutherland – Jesse is a former high school teacher turned media guru. She recently left her teaching career to join the team at Big Foot Media, a start-up production company that focuses on telling stories in the Chicago and Detroit area. Since her team is small, Jesse wears a lot of hats; she’s a production manager, producer, director and blogger. She also runs all of BFM’s social media and has been keeping tabs on and teaching about the ever-evolving media world for over 5 years.

Amanda Lewan –  Amanda is a writer based in Detroit. She is the founder and editor of Michipreneur reaching 50,000 people with stories advocating for a more creative economy, and she is co-founder of the creative workplace Bamboo Detroit. Her work has been featured in local and national publications including Entrepreneur Magazine, The Nation, The Detroit News, Niche Literary Magazine, Wayne State Literary Review and more. She holds a Bachelor’s in Professional Writing from Michigan State University and a Master’s in Creative Writing from Wayne State University.

Chris Grindem – Chris is the Executive Director of The Utmost Group, a boutique branding, marketing and communications firm focused on serving the greater good in Detroit.  Over the past 30-plus years, he’s worked with advertising agencies including Leo Burnett, Chicago, Doner, and JWT Detroit. Corporately, he worked in marketing with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and the Broad College of Business at MSU.  And he’s been an entrepreneur, helping found the Optimization Group, Ann Arbor, as well as The Utmost Group.  Chris earned his BA and MBA in marketing at Michigan State University.Corinne Thomas – Corinne is the Director of marketing for FoodJunky, a startup that makes ordering food online easy. She is responsible for identifying and understanding current and potential customers, as well as how to effectively communicate with them.  Her day-to-day marketing activities, include email campaign set-up, scheduling, testing, tagging and deployment of one-time, recurring, triggered and dynamic content-driven campaigns.  She is proud of being a go-getter who is not afraid to think outside the box and someone who always aims to add value to any organization she comes in contact with. Corinne earned her BA in Sports Management from Central Michigan University.
